Transmitting from a cottage in Republican country.

“I grew up in this town. I left in 1990. I swore I’d never come back. Here I am.”

Alana Noel Voth from her first post over at the PANK Blog, “Genesis.”

I “met” Alana during the past couple of years in blogland, specifically the neighborhood occupied by erotica writers. Her posts, at her now defunct blog, were something I appreciated. They were filled with proud momness, outrage at society’s stupidity, and much more.

Some folks think of erotica authors as just “genre” writers. That irks me. Alana puts it bluntly: “What I do is write fiction that involves human sexuality. You might call it pornography; you might call it erotica, I call it fiction that involves human sexuality in every one of its guises: straight sex, bi sex, lesbian sex, gay sex.”

In this post at PANK, she reproduces a wonderful exchange between her and her son from a few years back. And all I can say is he’s a lucky kid to have a mom like Alana.

“Children are gifts one generation offers the next. If you’re a parent, what are you offering?”

Robin, your post reminded me of a beautiful movie I saw this weekend, A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn. It is considered Japanese erotica but the forbidden love and themes of loneliness and aging made me cry into my laptop on an airplane.

Another film I recently enjoyed, which is much campier, is Asia Argento’s The Last Mistress.

I loved The Last Mistress. Will have to look for A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn (definitely has a sexy title that one).

    Thanks, I found it.
