Somebody has a crush!

At THEthe Poetry blog, Lonely Christopher is wholeheartedly taken with Rachel B. Glaser’s star-striking glorious debut of short stories, Pee On Water, and well, he should be.

But I mean, goddamn. If someone reviews like this anything I write — especially someone as seemingly critical as Lonely Christopher — I’d be content to roll over and die straight after.

Some phrases from the review I found particularly loving:

  • the most promising short fiction I’ve encountered in near forever
  • this rakish, precious creature
  • the way this thing makes everything feel, in this room, on this bed, holding these stories, in the world
  • technical mutant-ness (product of an implicit, albeit devious, acumen)
  • Here is a special book; I read it, it made me feel happy
  • I want to read Rachel B. Glaser all the time instead of anybody else her age and range
  • She woke me up sneakily, Glaser, in a fashion hard to articulate
  • put things out of order in a way that made it all hurt and shine
  • These are the sort of stories that flip backward through the glass of tall windows instead of taking the stairs.

And the heart beats on. Amazing right? All well deserved, of course, you must remember I loved Pee On Water so much I wrote Miss Glaser an overly personal letter, and she’d already apparently been haunting Joseph Riipi in fevered dreams. I’d go so far as to assert Pee On Water was one of my favorite things I read in 2010.

But all our undying love heaped together in a pile of kittens and candy pales in comparison to the big big heart of a lonely stricken boy.

I’ve been exposed to. This writer is fierce and inspiring.

Too. Been exposed too. I hate it when I do that.
