[In which WWAATD asks vapid questions culled from various teen magazines to non-vapid, non-teenager types.]

Full Name: Jac Jemc

Age: 27

Height: 5’8”

Currently Live: Chicago IL

Hometown: Park Ridge IL

Instruments: Very poor guitar skills.

Car: Hyundai Sonata

Secret Talent:

What is the best thing about your job? Getting paid?

What was your most embarrassing audition moment? When I was 18, I slept on the sidewalk of Chicago outside a Holiday Inn to audition for the WB show Popstars!.  That night I feel in love with a young man named Leroy.  We walked to the convenience store together to get a snack.  The next day I sang Nelly Furtado’s “I’m Like a Bird” and my back-up audition song was Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name.”

If you could live in any past era which would it be and why?

Who is your role model and why? My mom and dad.  They’re real weird, but very nice.

What do you do for fun? Copy out things long hand, embroider things, drink good beer, shout “HippppooooOOOOOoooOOOOOoooOOO!”

Do you have a good luck charm? I don’t really believe in luck.

Wackiest fan encounter: I don’t have any fans so I assume this means, “When were you, Jac Jemc, at your wackiest as a fan?” I come up with two instances: I told Amy Hempel she was my favorite and she asked if we knew each other because I looked very familiar.  We did not.  I’m pretty sure that means we were sister wives in another life.

Before I die, I want to: Go to the House on the Rock.

When I fly I have to have: A book.

If I had to spend $10 at my favorite fast food joint, I’d order: A Frisco melt with fried, and extra Frisco sauce for dipping, and a vanilla shake.

My coolest article of clothing: I have a Cheers tee shirt I’ve had since I was 9.  It is the best.

My first financial splurge was: A Caboodle to store my rubber stampers.  I think I was about 8.

When friends come over, we: Drink and intend to do all sorts of things, but spend most of our time laughing.

Do you like to cook? If so, what? I like to try new recipes – I’d almost always like to try something new rather than cook something a second time.

TV show I never miss: I’ve watched the first four seasons of the Wire in 3 weeks.

If you could interview any celeb whom would it be and why? I’m really confused/ fascinated by Paz de la Huerta right now.  She seems like a real time bomb. I am gathering this from a 70 second interview video I watched.

Anything about yourself you wish you could change? I have trouble finding the right word when I’m talking out loud to someone.  It’s an anxiety thing.

I’ll eat sushi, but not: Well, I’ll try anything once, but I guess I haven’t found a way to actually enjoy liver or oysters yet.

What are your best and worst subjects in school? I’m actually pretty bad at writing papers.  Not terrible, but standard B+ level.  I miss math. I was good at it.

If you could be granted 3 wishes, they’d be… Things that couldn’t turn around to bite me in the ass, so how about: a home or or condo that I don’t have to pay rent or a mortgage on, a bunch of gift certificates to restaurants and patience.

If I could gay-marry anyone in the world, he/she would be…Frances McDormand, Patti Smith,  Eileen Myles,  Amelia Gray, or my buddy, Liz.

Where on earth are you most dying to go? I’m trying to figure out a way to spend a month in Berlin, writing and wandering.

What’s the last thing that made you cry? I cry silently at my work desk at least once a week.  I believe no one notices.

Do you ever wish you could just be a normal kid? I’m really fascinated by people that just have a job without a secondary hobby that’s as much work as their job.  How do they live?  What do they do with their time?  Are they more relaxed than me?  Would I like it if I could live that way?

What would people be surprised to know about you? I am slow reader – like maybe I even am a remedial reader, but I love it, so I have some survival mechanisms, like reading out loud to stay focused or holding a book mark under each line of text.

If you had to name one song as your theme song, what would it be? Clam Crab Cockle Cowrie by Joanna Newsom

Have you had a starstruck Hollywood experience? Who was it with? I worked at a Borders Books for a couple years and I accidentally carded Jason Priestly.  His card wasn’t signed and I asked to see his ID, and he acted real put-out by it, and then I felt like an asshole.  He’s lumpier than I thought he would be.
