Kerouac pays tribute to Dean (Moriarty, not Martin) on Steve Allen’s TV show.

A few posts below is a clip of  Clive James’ less-than-admiring presentation of an excerpt from “On the Road.”    Let’s hear from the author himself for a little contrast.  Jack Kerouac was a guest on Steve Allen’s show in 1959 and read from his signature work.   Allen plays piano behind Kerouac on the  album “Poetry for the Beat Generation.”  In fact, both share equal credit on the cover.

It’s a great clip. There’s going to be an On the Road film in 2012 too, which will remind everyone of Jack Kerouac work.

Thanks. I just checked out IMDB. Viggo Mortensen is going to play Old Bull Lee aka William S. Burroughs. Interesting casting.

I have the set of Jack Kerouac’s recordings. He was an excellent reader of his work.
